BCCOM update: Stop No-Fault Insurance in BC and more Featured

bccom logo medICBC wants to copy WorkSafe BC and no-fault SGI from Saskatchewan.

If you are ever disabled under those no-fault systems, the ICBC adjusters will force you to go back to work in jobs like a parking lot attendant or a Walmart greeter. That’s true even if you worked as a teacher or a pilot or a welder or a business owner before your accident.

Then they will say you are not totally disabled and not eligible for proper compensation. You won’t have any right to sue in court and you will be at the mercy of ICBC. You will get NOTHING for damage to your quality of life.

Please say “No to ICBC no-fault”. Call or write to your MLA and local reporter.

Want to email your Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and let them know why no fault auto insurance is not the change British Columbians need from ICBC? Click the link to directly to do just that.  https://www.notonofault.com/take-action/

 BC Ferries

BC Ferries Reminder

It is not a right but a privileged given to motorcyclists that allows us to show up sometimes within 15 minutes of a departure and get on. BC Ferries have always asked that you arrive 30 minutes prior to sailings (without a reservation) to be loaded first on the boat (in the space otherwise useless to cars). I have received a few emails asking us to call and complain that BC Ferries was not upholding their end  of the guarantee. Again this is not a guarantee, please be respectful and show up within the required time to better your chances of receiving first on, first off the boat.  If you happen to show up with 15 minutes to spare and are allowed on consider yourself extra lucky that day.

Two Fatal Motorcycle Accidents over the weekend near Pemberton.

Two people were killed in separate motorcycle crashes near Pemberton over the weekend, RCMP said.

In a news release, RCMP said a Friday (July 3) crash 10 kilometres north of the In Shuck Ch forest service road along Highway 99 left a 31-year-old man dead. Police said the motorcycle had been travelling north along Highway 99 around 5 p.m. when the rider lost control of his bike around a corner, slid into the southbound lane and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

Another crash killed a motorcyclist about nine kilometres north of Joffre Lake along Highway 99 just before noon on Sunday. Mounties said the crash involved three motorcycles colliding with a southbound vehicle. One motorcyclist, a man from the Lower Mainland, was killed in the crash. Two more motorcycles and a person from the vehicle were airlifted to a Lower Mainland hospital with serious, but not life threatening, injuries.

Brain injury groups concerned about ICBC changes:

It was a change designed to help douse the financial ‘dumpster fire’ at ICBC but the looming shift to no-fault insurance is causing serious concerns from groups representing people who have suffered brain injuries.
