Renthal and KTM continue prime partnership at the highest level of racing

KTM RenthalRed Bull KTM Factory Racing and Renthal will extend their prolific collaboration into a third decade thanks to a fresh agreement between the companies.

KTM are extremely satisfied that the long and fruitful bond with Renthal will remain in place with a multi-year deal and Renthal will continue to supply its quality wares of handlebars, grips and chainwheels to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Teams in the FIM Motocross World Championship, AMA Supercross and Motocross competitions and the FIM Enduro World Championship.

The contract will involve another two seasons of joint racing development and spoils between the works operation principally based in Munderfing, Austria, and the British manufacturer located in Manchester and approaching almost half a century of engineering excellence.

The union began in the mid 1980s with Austrian Motocross World Champion and KTM icon Heinz Kinigadner hitting the peak of Grand Prix and the link has flowed solidly since 1995 when former KTM rider and sport manager Kurt Nicoll was beginning the next phase of the factory’s prominence in motocross. From 2-strokes to 4-strokes and the shifting landscape of the sport, the synergy has endured. In 2017, Tony Cairoli and Pauls Jonass ruled the MXGP and MX2 world championships and Renthal remains one of the factory squad’s longest standing allies and technical partners.

Feedback from the Red Bull KTM factory line-ups across the divisions assist in the evolution of Renthal parts and components tested in the most challenging of race conditions. The results of the labor eventually benefit the rider, customer and consumer.

“From Heinz Kinigadner in 1984 to Ryan Dungey this year Renthal has been a continued sponsor of KTM,” said Renthal Commercial Director Rees Williams“It has been a pleasure to be associated with a company which has grown for strength to strength, winning many championships along the way and we hope to continue this successful relationship for many years to come.”

“Renthal was by far the best quality handlebar available in my time, and it was a must for every top rider to race with; in fact all of the KTM factory riders back in the 80s were using Renthal,”reflected Heinz Kinigadner“The quality of the products for sure helped me win the world championship, as I was not the most careful rider – I crashed quite a lot, and the Renthal handlebar helped me to finish races. Also, Renthal made lots of different sizes of handlebar, which was useful for my size and we got an awful lot of help to win the title.”

“It’s great to see that this strong relationship between KTM and Renthal has continued for many years,” he added. “It’s important for the success of the Red Bull KTM Factory Motocross and Enduro teams to have a good working partnership with such a quality brand and we look forward to continuing this success together in the future.”

“We are really happy to continue our relationship with Renthal,” said KTM Motorsport Director Pit Beirer. “This strong partnership is one of the longest standing within the Red Bull KTM Factory Motocross and Enduro teams, and in that time we have achieved many world championship wins together. Renthal has played an important role in our sporting success and I look forward to the continuation of our cooperation in the future.”
